This moving moment happened on a story I was covering about the talented Chad and Chelsea Hoberer of Dallas. They do so many wonderful, artful things, but for this story, I was covering a certain bench that they had made. See the link below to check out the full story. I was captivated by their backyard tenant who lived in their guest house in East Dallas. He also happened to love art and culture just like them. His heart was huge and it's these little bonus moments on stories that I live for. They are the things that you don't expect to see but stumble onto. The story kept blossoming into a larger tale of fate and friends. A huge, majestic pecan tree was in the courtyard of this couple's property and Keith made sure that I left with some in a brown paper sack. He showed me also his pottery. When I got home, I ordered one of his works to support his work and because I loved it. I will never forget this man's hands that showed so much character and life. And I will never forget his heart. Rest in peace, sweet soul. These are the stories I live to cover.
The late Keith Evans of Dallas, Texas sharing come of his collected pecans.
